Reform of the Tax Code in CDMX Approved

The Finance Commission of the capital's Congress approved a reform bill to the Fiscal Code of Mexico City related to the permanent license. The document will be presented in the Plenary for approval next Wednesday, October 30. The vote was in favor of the deputies from Morena, PT, and the Green Ecologist Party, and against the PAN.

During the discussion, the Morena deputy, Pablo Trejo, indicated that the reform aims to simplify and regulate the procedures related to the permanent license, meeting a frequent request from the residents of Mexico City. Trejo highlighted that the proposal includes the creation of an infrastructure fund financed by the income generated from obtaining the permanent license.

In response to the criticisms from some PAN deputies regarding the lack of evaluation of drivers' ability to obtain the permanent license, Trejo clarified that there will indeed be a test to assess drivers before granting them the license. Additionally, he emphasized that it will be necessary to meet certain specific requirements to obtain it, such as having no violations and not having committed traffic offenses.

Trejo also mentioned the importance of strengthening road culture and oversight, as approximately 20% of traffic accidents are caused by drivers under the influence of alcohol. In this regard, the deputy proposed the possibility of reviewing the Mobility Law in the future to improve provisions related to road safety.
